Once back to scratch I will begin afresh on the Netgear. I attempted to bring the Netgear back to the default firmware Sat evening, but as it is not accepting the WNDR3300_V1.0.29_1.0.29.chk file, I will need to do some more homework. I concluded that as I was unable to use wireless with the default firmware I got rid of the devices and can no longer focus on these devices. The issues were still prevalent after bringing the devices back to the default firmware. I spent several days troubleshooting each of the Linksys routers. I no longer have the Linksys WRT54GL routers. I look forward to learning more as it is an important factor in what I am doing. I would love to hear back from any more experienced users who may be able to shed some light on this issue.

I am working toward building free wifi access points, but am bewildered in my testing phase due to these three failures. I am a little shell shocked at the third Netgear router failing, as it is a different brand with different hardware. Routers kept in a clean and cool environment. I have not boosted signal strength, or even burdened it with any heavy traffic. I have not over-tweaked, merely changing: I have only tested under 2.4GHz as I do not as yet have 5GHz frequency available on the laptop. I am able to connect to the neighbours wireless and function well, but not with the WNDR3300 which resides in the same room. The laptop is displaying 80% strength and looks solid.

But is cactus for wireless? I am able to install the default Linksys and Netgear default BIOS respectively, but the wireless is still toast. I also connect via a LAN which operates fine, and am able to review and manage the router. This is obviously extremely high, during pinging the router it also displays 'No buffer space available' & 'icmp_seq=x Destination Host unreachable'. I reboot the router and it looks ok for the first minute with ping rates of 1-2 seconds, but within the first five minutes massive pauses occur and the ping rate hits 10000+ (up to 70000). But I have been alarmed to note that the WNDR3300 as the other two routers has trouble loading pages a few days after installing DD-WRT. The installs have been pretty straight forward. I am up to my third wifi router that has failed, within a week of installing DD-WRT. Posted: Sat 17:20 Post subject: Wireless death on 3 routers: 2 x WRT54GL & Netgear WNDR3
